One more hot day then relief 070612July 6th, 2012 at 11:14 am by Pete Petoniak under News, Weather
We’ve been sweltering under this heat for 7 days now but we’ll get some relief tomorrow. Since Saturday June 30th highs have been 90 or above in Green Bay (and for 9 of the last 10 days). It’s not only the heat as they say…it’s the humidity. Very humid conditions have resulted in heat indices in the 100 degree and above range. A cold front will push through the state tonight and we’ll wake up to much more comfortable conditions; lower humidity and cooler temps. The front may touch off some strong or severe thunderstorms tonight with damaging wind and large hail the main threats. Highs for the weekend will be a more normal 80°.
Numerous records were set around the state yesterday as highs reached the century mark in some places. The 99° in Green Bay was the hottest since 1995, the last time we’ve seen triple-digits. We also saw a dew point of 78° on 2 days, July 4th and 5th which is very unusual and the heat index reached 110° on the 4th and 109° on the 5th. But remember around here we spell relief…S-a-t-u-r-d-a-y.
