Record setting rainfall in July
I don’t have to tell you it has been wet in July. Anyone who lives in Northeast Wisconsin would know that. But what I can tell you is that 8.70 inches of rain have fallen this month in Green Bay. That makes it the wettest July on record. Meanwhile, there has been 15.43 inches of rain this summer. That’s 3 to 4 inchesĀ shy of the summer rainfall record which stands as 18.89 inches. In other words, if we see seasonal rainfall in August, we will break the record.
Getting back to our current month… not only has it been the wettest July on record, but also the fourth wettest month on record. We stand behind June of 1990 which tops the list with more than 10 inches. That will be a very difficult record to catch up with. We will see rain chances on Friday and Saturday, but I am not expecting an overwhelming amount of precipitation.
All of these statistics for Green Bay are great. But what about everyone else in the area? The image below shows rainfall for the month of July. Places like Appleton and New London have seen the most rain with more than 10 inches. However, the driest locations have been in Door County where places like Ephraim have had less than 4 inches.
Until next time,
