Low pressure in Missouri will bring us light snow this afternoon and tonight. Snow amounts will average between 1 and 2 inches in most areas of NE Wisconsin. Roads may be slick for the evening commute, so give you extra time when traveling. Cold air in Canada will come crashing down on us for New Years Eve. Cold air will stick around through the weekend.

You may have seen stories or advertisements about the Fox Network’s negotiations with TimeWarner Cable and the possible loss of such service. That’s true.
However, those talks do not – I repeat – do not affect WLUK-TV FOX 11. Regardless of what happens with that dispute, FOX 11 will remain on TimeWarner Cable.
At issue here are retransmission fees – the amount that a cable system pays to a channel for the right to carry it. WLUK-TV FOX 11 has a deal with TimeWarner (and other cable & satellite providers) and, as such, this particular dispute does not affect us.
What gets confusing is that FOX does own some of the local affiliates across the county, as do the other networks. In those markets, customers could be without regular FOX programming, such as the NFL, House, etc.
WLUK-TV is owned by LIN Television, based in Rhode Island. We went through similiar negotiations with TimeWarner about a year ago and have a deal in place.
All of this isn’t to say that Northeast Wisconsin cable customers won’t be affected. If FOX and TWC can’t reach a deal, some of the cable networks owned by FOX (such as FX and Speed) could disappear Friday.
But we’ll be here.

While there is a chance for some snow showers in Door County, that isn’t the problem. The problem is the Wind with gusts as high as 45 to 50 mph creating blowing snow, low visibilities, and hazardous driving conditions. So the National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory until Midnight tonight. If you are traveling on Highway 43 or 57 be prepared for rapidly changing visibilities due to blowing snow. Click here for the latest Winds Speeds.

Weakening low pressure is over the Great Lakes. While this low can still produce snow flurries, there is also some breaks in the cloud cover. This is a good example when you can have both sunshine and snow in the forecast.

Main highways are in good condition this morning; however untreated roads and side walks are slick with rain on top of snow and ice, so be careful traveling. It will also be very windy with gusts as high as 45 mph today. After 4pm today rain will begin to change to snow and it will be coming from an unusual direction from south to north!
